Alright, so i'm going to my first convention in a while (not my first by any means) but I'm also going to be a dealer and probably going to be cosplaying as someone from One Piece or just a simple cat girl thing, but it's my first year as a dealer and I was wondering if there's anything I should be weary of (besides bad hagglers) or anything I should be weary of doing?

Im not to familiar on the problems dealers have besides the bad haggling, but I can only assume if your gonna cosplay too, its possible someone will come up and bother you. Uh one other thing is maybe someone stealing something? Since its your first year, I would really keep an eye out.

Regarding the France anon i have cosplayed as france before and the weebs can be a nightmare with him. Yelling, "Don't rape me.", Running away and even hitting France cosplayers. I have seen it all. But don't let them get you down if you like to cosplay as france go right ahead. If somone does hit you get con staff asap.

Wow what the fucckkkk

So, I was attending Aki con in this Gundam mobil suit that took me over a year to make because I didn’t want to use cardboard and the wings kept not wanting to balance and etc. Anyway, I was really excited about it because I thought I did a great job. As I was walking across this little outside area to get to the indoor photo shoot area, this one guy came up to me and asked who I was. I told him I was Deathscythe - Eve Wars version and he started shouting about how I did it wrong and how the Eve Wars version didn’t count and how I was a shitty cosplayer for not knowing that. Having heard stories about people like this, I tried not to let it get to me and just walk away, though my feelings were still hurt. Then he shoved me to the ground (which hurt because I was walking on 7in platforms to get the foot to body proportion right, so I had a long way to fall) and then stomped on both of the wings so that they broke off and shattered. I was so in shock that I could only stare up at him. He sneered that he did the cosplaying world a favour and ran off. I, of course, started crying and immediately called my parents to take me home. It sucked. :(

Dude what the fuckkkkk thats so wrong! Im so sorry that hapened to you :C I have no words I cant……I woulda chased him down and kicked his ass man…….

(Thank you canadian-cutie for the sub. )

I was cosplaying a punk-rock misty in really tight shorts. I got a lot of complements and a lot of insults (they just bounced off, I don't really care.) But I was posing for a picture, holding a pokeball. I was standing somewhat provocatively with my butt sticking out, and this guy SMACK MY ASS, being the responsible woman I am, turned and punched him in the face. I just gotta say DO NOT TOUCH ANYONE WITHOUT ASKING. Especially sexually, in fact just don't do that. Ever.

You deserve a pat on the back my friend.

Simply beautiful *wipes tear*

So i'm going to my first con and I have some questions. A. How do the tickets work? Do you wear them or something? B. Are you allowed to go to a panel if it's already like 30 minutes in? C. How early should you come to get your tickets and stuff?
Anonymous

A: Yeah you must wear them, but you can take them off for pictures

B: Yes unless stated otherwise, like its to crowded, just try not to disturb the panalist.

C: Depending on the con tbh, If its very large. At least an hour in advance, but if its local maybe 20 minutes.

My second convention, the con staff had to put in place several no touching without asking rules because this girl glomped another person and broke the MOVABLE bat-wings the person had worked on for 8 months. It got so bad that they had to ban glomping all together

*slams head against wall*

Why. Cant. People. Under-fucking-stand.

GLOMPING. ISNT. FUCKING. CUTE.

Thats such bullshit! I just cant 8 months thats must have been hell to make only to have it shattered in seconds. Unreal.

I now have smaller heels to walk in for my other costume, thank. God I won't have to be stumbling and near breaking my heels :D

Thats good! Hopefully your next convention with the new heels will run more smoothly C:

First con, Zodiac symbols, and the Death Note cosplayer

I went to my first convention last year, and despite most of the day going smoothly, I hit two snags.

This isn't a horror story, but I was going back through this blog and came across a girl who made a Nyan cat cosplay using a wagon and ended up getting shit from a guy about it. As someone who has cosplayed Nyan cat before, I just wanted to say that that is extremely clever :) I'm sorry you got crap for it though

I really hate it when people get shit for cosplays they work really fucking hard on >:/ Its unreal.

my first anime convention years ago, I went in cosplay for the first time as a pretty popular anime character. i was with my dad at the time, because i was still pretty young, and we were browsing the dealer's room peacefully, when suddenly I heard my character's name shouted out, then was glomped, being knocked down. and the floor was concrete. i hit my head too, to make things worse. Luckily i didn't get really hurt. :S

I hope your dad hunted them down because thats not cool >:/ Im glad you werent hurt to bad tho U.U

I just want to add to the bat anon, my friend brought a wooden bat to a convention a few days ago (kept inside her bag, she was never even going to remove it), and the convention staff said they would only accept plastic bats. The fabric -stuffed ones would work too. I would double check on your convention's prop info tho, just to be extra safe

Boop there ya go^

This isn’t really a horror story but it was quite bad.

So it was the second day of Anime Detour ‘13, I just got out of my casual wear and changed into my Catherine costume. Now my costume has high heels and I practiced all year before the event so I’d figure all would go well right?

Not even close.

I was shaking in the legs, unbalanced and yelping as I almost fell on other con goers. While people understood my pain, security was ready to escort me around the area to make sure I didn’t actually fall face first on the floor. (fortunately on my end, it didn’t have to come to it.)  I had to keep taking my shoes off for a while just to get the feeling in my feet back, or until hotel workers told me to put my shoes back on.

I eventually made it through the second half of the day without breaking my ankles but….Yeah. On the brighter note; I had ten people recognizing my costume :D

Im glad you made it through the day C: Heels are a bitch to walk in at cons, and I commend anyone that does it, so congrats to you, even if you had some trouble C:

(Thank you feliciakainzandtorishai for the sub. C: )

Hey there! I'm planning on cosplaying New 52 Supergirl when I lost weight (want to be about 125 pounds for that). Please look up the outfit if you don't know it already. Do you think I have to be wary of anyone when doing it? Because I really like her, and that outfit...
Anonymous

With that outfit, just be wary of general creeps and such :V Its very cute and I wish you luck UuU

hello friend! awesome blog you got here! i'm going to be cosplaying my homestuck fantroll at an upcoming con, and her strife specibus is batkind. basically, the prop i'm planning on making is one of those orange plastic baseball bats that they make for kids with a cool design painted on it. will it be alright if i carry it around the con, or will the staff make me keep it in my hotel room? it doesn't look much like a legit weapon but i thought it'd be safer to ask!
Anonymous

Hello and thank you! And no you should be fine C: Usually just swords (like real ones not props) are asked to keep in the hotel rooms. Most everyone carries around props that actually look like a legit weapon, so if yours doesnt even look the part, you should be fine C:

Hey, I'm planning on going to Anime Milwaukee next year with (hopefully) a commissioned Knight of Hope cosplay I'm planning to buy with the money from my birthday (Which is coming up soon :) ). Have you heard anything bad about AM, because I would not want my cosplay ruined because God Tier cosplays are really expensive.

Nope I havent heard anything bad about Anime Milwaukee myself C: Good luck with youre cosplay btw C:
